MUMBAI: International Cricket Council (ICC) chairman Shashank Manohar chose to ignore a communication from the Vinod Rai-led Committee of Administrators (CoA) on Amitabh Choudhary’s present status as office-bearer in the BCCI and allowed the latter to attend the board meeting of the governing body on Monday. Choudhary was allowed to cast his vote as the board sought consensus from members to push the new Future Tours Program (FTP) for the 2023-31 financial cycle, calling to introduce one ICC tournament every year. It is learnt that the Jharkhand-based cricket administrator — who has been barred by the CoA from functioning in any capacity owing to reports of a legal case going on against him in Ranchi — voted in favour of the FTP that ICC is pushing for and which BCCI is vehemently opposed to. “It’s like an act of treason. He wasn’t supposed to be there in the first place. What he did there (casting the vote in favour of the idea to have one ICC tournament every year) is unacceptable.
