(ABC Great Southern: Ellie Honeybone) Map: Gnowangerup 6335 Children at Gnowangerup District High School in southern Western Australia will no longer have scrapes on their knees after the community banded together and installed green turf for them to play on. Limited access to a water meant the school oval had been a bare patch of dirt for as long as anyone could remember.Thanks to a group of determined parents and support from the local church, a series of pipes and tanks were installed late last year and a sustainable water collection system built to capture rainwater.The green grass is now the pride and joy of the school and a wonderful new place for the students to play.Two years in the makingThe Gnowangerup Community Water Harvesting and Town Greening Project was born in 2016 and took two years to come to fruition.
