The 21st Indie Memphis Film Festival begins Thursday and ends Monday. (Officially, that is; encore screenings take place Nov. 7-8.) That’s a significant numeral, 21. It suggests adulthood; maturity. It’s something to celebrate. So here is a list of 21 recommended Indie Memphis experiences. In fact, this list isn’t nearly long enough; it could have expanded to include almost everything on the schedule. But you can’t go wrong with any of these 21. THURSDAY 1. What’s the future of Memphis moviemaking? The Hometowner Narrative Shorts Competition offers a preview, as seven local filmmakers present new work at 9:15 p.m. at the Halloran Centre. After this, look for anything with “Hometowner” in the title or description, to see the best of what local artists are doing with moving pictures. FRIDAY 2. How did we get here? Perhaps Alexis Bloom’s documentary “Divide and Conquer: The Story of Roger Ailes,” about the disgraced and now deceased founder of Fox News, will provide a clue. (1 p.m., Studio on the Square) 3.
