It’s been a good year for local band Northern Sports Club, writes Jonathan Haworth. After debuting their six-piece line up at Beat Herder last year, they have built a reputation as being one of the most exciting live bands around now with storming performances at gigs across the North West including not one, but two sets at the recent Highest Point festival in Lancaster’s Williamson Park and with their jazz/funk sound gaining plenty of praise along the way it’s no surprise that they are returning to Beat Herder again this year.“To be asked to open The Factory stage this year is an amazing honour, we’re really excited and looking forward to putting on an even better show this year and we’ve a little extra something planned for the awesome Beat Herder crowd,” said singer Millie McLeod ahead of their appearance this weekend.As well as ripping it up live this year the band also put out their first ep Rose Gold, with the title track already the summer soundtrack for many across not just the valley but around the world, as since its release the ep has been streamed in places as diverse as Canada, Latvia, Japan, and Vietnam.And there’s more… Read full this story
