My reward for getting up at 3 a.m. on the day iPhone X preorders went live was having the UPS guy toss the $1,000 piece of tech onto my front step like it a phone book on release day.But once I fished it out of the shrubs and freed it from its packaging Friday, I continued my membership to that special club of maniacs known as “early adopters” who really have no idea if Apple’s proposed future of the smartphone would actually hold up beyond the confines of a controlled demo room where the Wi-Fi is plentiful and all the lighting is ideal. So, is Apple’s most expensive smartphone ever worth the price of admission? After 72 hours of use in the real world, I can safely say … maybe? Ask me in sixth months.
